This contest is a unique opportunity for  IT, Management, and Electronics professionals to contribute innovative ideas and strategies to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time—flood resilience.

Contest Overview:

Floods pose significant risks to the safety and operational continuity of IT hubs. As we have witnessed in recent years, the impact of such natural disasters can be devastating, affecting businesses, infrastructure, and communities. Through this contest, we aim to harness the collective expertise and creativity of professionals like you to develop comprehensive management and technology solutions that can effectively mitigate the impacts of future floods.

Objective:

This contest aims to create actionable strategies and innovative solutions that enhance flood resilience. These solutions should ensure the safety of personnel, the protection of assets, and the continuity of operations in IT hubs during flood events.

Real case scenario

Infopark Kochi and Technopark campus, renowned hubs of technological innovation and business excellence, recently faced unprecedented challenges due to intense pre-monsoon showers. The heavy rains led to severe waterlogging, causing significant damage to employee vehicles and infrastructure, and the work was paused for hours. This incident has underscored the urgent need for robust solutions to enhance the resilience of these IT parks against extreme weather events.

 

Challenges:

1. Waterlogging and Drainage Failures: The existing drainage systems proved inadequate to handle the heavy rainfall, resulting in severe waterlogging.

2. Damage to Property: Employee vehicles and other assets suffered significant damage.

3. Investor and Employee Concerns: The incident has raised concerns about the resilience and preparedness of the infrastructure.

 

Call for Ideas:

Participants are required to provide solutions in two categories:

1. Management Solution- Focus on strategic planning, policy formulation, and operational procedures to enhance flood resilience

2. Technology Solution- Innovative technological interventions to improve infrastructure and predict and manage flood scenarios.
